musical winnings.

A congratulatory post to one of my favourite bands on their winning of the J-award for best album of 2010. Tame Impala - Innerspeaker.
Here's they at The Palace this year in Melbourne. We were in the front row. It was out of this world.

Treasure-hunting with my Grandma

Last weekend, I went to a market day with my Grandma, and found nothing of real intrest at the market. BUT, we then ventured into the thrift shop, and after spending the morning looking at all the cute tea-cup trios, and not being able to justify spending my not-so-hard-earned dough on them, I found this one in there for six dollars - and it's english bone china and all!!

Made me very very happy. Now I can finally have my tea and toast on matching crockery! Then I found these charming plates and two bowls, and on asking how much, was told "oh, a dollar for the lot, love". Bargain. They will look super-fabulous in the caravan!!

Drapes.

El Caravano was in dire need of some new curtains, so, following a fabulously easy recipe on design*sponge I makeded some in ever-lovely gingham.

I then ventured up to la caravan and hung them. I still have a few more to make, but I think they've turned out pretty darn well for a first attempt at curtain-making! I think I may put some sun-block lining on the next ones thought, as they're a tad flimsy.

pom-poms

I do love-a da pom-poms. Here's a few a made earlier. I think I shall put these in the mobile for our neighbour's baby, because I like the look of all the different textures. And I'm no baby-psychologist, BUT, I know when I was little, I preferred things with a little character. More "rustic" items...

Everybody loves a fairy light.

I also bought some charming little fairy lights
for four dollars from the hallowed halls of the Swedish mega-store, and they look super-duper cute on my bedhead!

Basket Case.

I went bicycle basket hunting today. To no avail.
Until I got home, and discovered one of my grandfather's fishing baskets. I cannot believe how utterly perfect it was for the job. Some brackets are being put on the front so it's removable, and I think I may make a lining/shopping bag for it, but other than that,
P E R F E C T! I looked in a few fishing stores today, but they didnt have any, so maybe check thrift shops/antique shops for them. Here it is pre clean-up/alterations.

Scarf Storage Saviour

Late post. Spent a few days painting a flat in south yarra. Lovely warm weather though.
Discovered IKEA whilst there, and after spending many months searching, found the perfect solution for my scarf storage woes - their "komplement" scarf doovy [http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/00181557].
It's taking care of those and my ties so far. I think I may need another to hold my belts and winter scarves... It was only seven dollars (if you're in the IKEA family, otherwise ten) - bargain. I have mine hanging on my wardrobe door, because I love all my scarves & their patterns - too pretty to have stuffed in a cupboard!!

Cracking the creme brulee of blogging.

I plan to document my exploits into crafting, listening, baking, renovating, treasure-hunting, watching, and blog-browsing here, as I try to escape the realm of boredom.
Today I'm making pom-poms for a mobile for our neighbour's soon-to-be-born baby. Maybe then I'll make a big pom-pom chain to adorn the roof of the 70's caravan I'm yet to renovate (inspiration thanks to Honestly WTF?! http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-pom-poms). And all this while I watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Photos shall be posted. Stories shall be told. Love shall be expressed. Music shall be heard.
But not until saturday, when I get back home.
Adios, Amigos.
